Police say a number of transports have slid into the ditch and a couple of semis have jack-knifed and are blocking the Trans-Canada about 10 kilometres west of Vermillion Bay.
Tow-trucks have been dispatched to the scene to assist with the removal of the disabled vehicles.
Police are advising motorists to use extreme caution while driving in the area as the roads are slippery due to the weather.
Highway 17, has been closed at Kenora for eastbound traffic, and motorists are being re-routed to Highway 11.
It is unknown at this time, how long the highway will be closed for.
