Beaver Brae's football team is off to a winning start to the 2011 season in the Winnipeg High School Football League.
The Broncos edged the Steinbach Sabres 13-12 Friday afternoon in Steinbach.
Jordan Davis scored both majors for Beaver Brae.
The Broncos now have a bye week before playing their next game.
They will take on the Miles MacDonnell Buckeyes at home on September 23rd.

Northern Ontario Heritage Party a no-go?

The party had hoped to run as many as 11 candidates in the election, but Party President Ed Deibel says as of today they don't have anyone ready to file nomination papers.
Deibel says if they don't have at least two candidates nominated they will have to de-register the party.
9/11 Ceremony Being Held Sunday
They're also inviting the public to join them for a modest ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York.
The assembly will take place beneath the flag pole at the District #1 fire station on Barsky's Hill at approximately 8:45 AM - this sunday september 11th.
Record Temperatures Recorded in Kenora.
Temperatures are expected to soar to 29 degrees for the next two days.
In fact, Kenora set a weather record yesterday..
The thermometer hit 29.2 out at the airport, which just barely broke the previous high for September 8th of 28.8 degrees.
That record was set back in 2003.
All-Canddiates forum slated for later this month in Kenora

The Kenora and District Chamber of Commerce has invited all four candidates to talk about the issues at a special meeting on September 20th.
The forum is scheduled to take place at the Minis Hall in the Super 8 Motel at 7:00 in the evening.

The Broncos open the regular season on the road against the Steinbach Sabres.
Last year, the expansion Sabres failed to win a game but Broncos head coach Chris Penner says they aren't taking Steinbach lightly.

Unemployment Rate

The loss of jobs was small at 5,500, but it makes the second straight month that job creation was virtually flat in Canada. The good news was that there was a modest gain in full-time employment of 25,700, with part-time work declining by 31,200

The Liberal proposal calls for a tax credit to offset training costs for employers who hire professionals who are trained abroad. P-C Leader Tim Hudak calls it a ``bizarre scheme'' that doesn't help the 500-thousand people in the province who can't find work. But the Liberal party suggested in a release that such attitudes

About 150 people held a candlelit vigil last night in the southeastern British Columbia community of Sparwood, where a young boy vanished two days ago.
They prayed and observed a moment of silence for Kienan Hebert, who is being sought in B-C and Alberta.
Paul Hebert says he's ``100 per cent optimistic'' his son will be found unharmed. In addition to the boy, police are also searching for 46-year-old Randall Hopley, a person of interest. Hopley is thought to be driving a brown '87 Toyota Camry
