Landmark Agreement for Wabigoon

A landmark settlement for Wabigoon Lake Ojibway First Nation.

Ontario is going to pay 27-million dollars in financial compensation for past and ongoing flooding on the shoreline of reserve lands.

Chief Ruben Cantin Senior says the agreement follows 20-years of negotiations.

Cantin Senior says the problem was rooted in the construction of a provincially-approved dam without the First Nations consent in 1897.
