Kenora Town Island

The City of Kenora is a step closer to swapping Town Island on Lake of the Woods with the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Last night, city council declared the island surplus to municipal purposes.

Councillor Dave McCann says they have been talking with the MNR about swapping crown land of similar value.

McCann says the property the MNR is considering swapping for Town Island lies south of Dufresne Island near the Kenora By-Pass.

He suggests it could still take several months before the land transaction is complete.
