Another Bear Attack in northwestern Ontario

Two maulings by black bears in just over a week is a grim reminder of the dangers of Northwestern Ontario's back country.

A 24-year-old woman working for the Ministry of Natural Resources was attacked Tuesday at Wabikon Lake near Armstrong.

Police say a co-worker managed to fight off the 250-pound bear that attacked the woman.

The woman was airlifted to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with undisclosed injuries.

Tuesday's attack followed a mauling about a week ago involving a moose hunter north of Kenora.

The hunter, who was armed with a bow, killed the bear, but needed treatment in hospital for the wounds inflicted by the bear.
