Two Men Survive Snowmachine Ordeal near Lac Du Bonnet

A couple of sledders from eastern Manitoba are lucky to be alive after
spending a chilly night in the bush near Lac Du Bonnet.

The RCMP were called out Saturday night to check on a couple of
snowmobilers who had gone out earlier in the day, but failed to return.

By Sunday morning, members of the Lee River Snow Riders and local
emergency response crews began searching for the two men.

They were located around 9:00 in the morning near Bird River.

Police say the two men became stranded after one of their sleds broke down.

They went looking for shelter at Anson Hut but ended going through the ice.

Both men, aged 22 and 29 have been taken to hospital and are in stable
condition.
