One person has survived a plane crash that killed four others in North Spirit Lake.Maggie Kakegamic, a band councillor from the North Spirit Lake reserve where the small plane crashed, says the person is being treated at the local clinic.
The Transportation Safety Board says the Keystone Air plane crashed into the lake around 10 o'clock this morning.
Spokesperson Peter Hildebrand says the small aircraft was flying from Winnipeg to North Spirit Lake when it crashed a half a mile before the runway.
Hildebrand says five people, including the pilot, were on board.
He says there was a fire in the aircraft after it went down.
Hildebrand says two investigators have been dispatched to the scene, but it may be tomorrow before they get any further information about the cause of the crash.
Kakegamic says the small community of several hundred people about 400 kilometres north of Dryden is in shock and everybody is crying.
