American Angler Faces Hefty Fine

An American man has been fined a total of 5-thousand dollars for several offences, after he was caught fishing on Lac Seul near Ear Falls.

The man told conservation officers that he lived in Mississauga and showed him an Ontario resident Outdoors Card and fishing licence for residents.

An investigation revealed that the man had been posing as an Ontario resident since 1993 in order to obtain a licence, even though he never lived in Ontario.

Wojciech Rzepka of Park Ridge, Illinois was convicted of 3-counts of possessing a void fishing licence, angling without a licence and making a false statement.
