About 500 residents of a northwestern Ontario community have been safely evacuated because of nearby forest fires.Two Canadian Forces Hercules aircraft from Winnipeg flew the Deer Lake residents to Greenstone.
The blazes, which were burning within 3.5 kilometres from the community, sent thick smoke across the area.
