The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board is going to lobby the provincial government for an extra trustee in the upcoming fall elections.
Under the current regulations, the public school board will only be able to elect 9 trustees, the same as the last election, even though it has increased the size of the board by adding schools in Pickle Lake, Savant Lake and Upsala.
Acting Chief Executive Officer, Dean Carrie says the only way to increase the number of trustees is by having the provincial government enact legislation.
The board is planning to write a letter to the Ministry of Education outlining its concerns.
